EN It's official, you can really throw ordinary playing cards so hard they stick in a cucumber. The "Fake check" team from the German TV series Galileo (Pro 7) again enlisted Christian Prestin and other pro throwers, and indeed they succeeded in larding various vegetables with cards. But, none succeeded in completely cutting a banana, until Christian glues 2 cards together and only then is able to fell it.

Tatsächlich gelang es ihnen, verschiedenes Gemüse mit geworfenen Karten zu spicken. Der Versuch, eine Banane komplett zu zerteilen scheiterte aber, bis Christian zwei Karten zusammen klepte und die Banane fällte.

EN I performed a curious stunt that maybe can be a record, as I heard that the most knives one put to a playing card until now was 6, I put 9, starting with 6 in a row, then 2 in 3 tries (due to lack of space, I had to try closer and closer until hitting the card) and finished with the last one. There goes the picture, and I'm curious if somene tried to put more knives in a card...
DE Ich habe einen netten Stunt versucht, der vielleicht sogar ein Rekord ist. Ich habe gehört dass der Rekord für Messer in einer Spielkarte bisher 6 war, ich habe 9 geschafft. Erst 6 in Folge, dann 2 auf 3 Versuche (ich musste näher und näher dran gehen, weil der Platz auf der Karte so spärlich wurde), dann die letzte. Siehe das Bild, bin neugierig ob jemand sonst versucht hat das zu schlagen...
FR J'ai essayé un truc courieux aujourd'hui, et peut-etre c'est un record: j'avais compris que le record pour lancer des couteaux dans une carte à jouer, c'est 6, moi j'ai fait 9. J'avais commencé avec une série de 6, puis 2 couteaux à 3 essais (il fallait approcher, car l'espace sur la carte diminuait...), puis le dernier couteau en directe. Voilà la photo, je suis curieux si quelqu'un va essayer de me battre...

EN In Russia, knife throwing as a sport is practiced in many clubs. These throwers from the Moscow-based club Freeknife explain the sport to a TV team and demonstrate some throwing styles.

Shaolin Needle
EN It's a while since we had eastern mysteries. So: On the internet, there are videos of asian monks throwing a small neele through glass, making a hole.
A German TV station now wanted to know if this is for real: they enlisted a dart thrower, a spear thrower, and a knife thrower. Each had several tries: not a chance. The spear thrower at least made a dent in the glass, her needle speed was 100 km/h.
Then on to a Shaolin monastery, the guy succeeds on the third try.
BUT: the knife thrower did not give up, and finally succeded in putting the needle through the glass. Using a standard (pinch grip) throw. Turns out you only need a speed of 150 km/h and a perfectly straight hit!

DE Es gibt Videos von fernöstlichen Mönchen, die Nadeln durch eine Glasscheibe werfen. Ein Fernsehsender wollte jetzt wissen, ob das wirklich geht.
Also wurden ein Dart-Werfer, eine Speer-Werferin, und ein Messerwerfer rekrutiert, um das zu testen. Ergebnis: kein Erfolg. Die Speerwerferin schafft es gerade mal, mit 100 km/h kleine Dellen mit der Nadel das Glas zu werfen.
In einem Kloster schafft es der Shaolin-Mönch dann auf den dritten Versuch.
Der Messerwerfer wollte nicht aufgeben, und schafft es auch! Mit einem Standard-Wurf (pinch grip, viele Umdrehungen) und sehr geradem Auftreffen bei 150 km/h ist ein Loch in der Scheibe!

European Standard Rules
EN During the eighth Big European Throwers Meeting in Chomutov, Czech Republic, official sport representatives from 4 nations negotiated a set of standard rules to be used in international European competitions: The European Knife Throwing and Axe Throwing Rules. They will allow for an easier cross-border ranking of all throwers engaged in this sport.
DE Während des achten Großen Europäischen Werfertreffens in Chomutov/Tschechien kamen offizielle Vertreter des Wurfsports aus 4 Ländern zusammen, und einigten sich auf einen gemeinsamen Standard für internationale Europäische Treffen: die Europäischen Regeln für Messerwerfen und Axtwerfen. Für sportliche Messerwerfer ist es jetzt besser möglich, die eigene Leistung im europäischen Vergleich zu beurteilen.
FR Pendant la huitième Grande Rencontre Européenne des Lanceurs à Chomutov, République Tchèque, des répresentants officiels du sport se sont rencontrés pour négocier un standard commun pour les compétitions internationales en Europe. Le résultat: Règles Européennes de Lancer des Couteaux et Haches. Pour le lanceur sportif, il est maintenant possible de comparer ces points avec ceux des lanceurs dans tous l'Europe.
