A German TV station now wanted to know if this is for real: they enlisted a dart thrower, a spear thrower, and a knife thrower. Each had several tries: not a chance. The spear thrower at least made a dent in the glass, her needle speed was 100 km/h.
Then on to a Shaolin monastery, the guy succeeds on the third try.
BUT: the knife thrower did not give up, and finally succeded in putting the needle through the glass. Using a standard (pinch grip) throw. Turns out you only need a speed of 150 km/h and a perfectly straight hit!

Also wurden ein Dart-Werfer, eine Speer-Werferin, und ein Messerwerfer rekrutiert, um das zu testen. Ergebnis: kein Erfolg. Die Speerwerferin schafft es gerade mal, mit 100 km/h kleine Dellen mit der Nadel das Glas zu werfen.
In einem Kloster schafft es der Shaolin-Mönch dann auf den dritten Versuch.
Der Messerwerfer wollte nicht aufgeben, und schafft es auch! Mit einem Standard-Wurf (pinch grip, viele Umdrehungen) und sehr geradem Auftreffen bei 150 km/h ist ein Loch in der Scheibe!

They will allow for an easier cross-border ranking of all throwers engaged in this sport.

Für sportliche Messerwerfer ist es jetzt besser möglich, die eigene Leistung im europäischen Vergleich zu beurteilen.
FR Pendant la huitième Grande Rencontre Européenne des Lanceurs à Chomutov, République Tchèque, des répresentants officiels du sport se sont rencontrés pour négocier un standard commun pour les compétitions internationales en Europe.
